SMART’N UP

It simply means to use information and intellect to make better decisions. Our research has led us to the conclusion that nobody, not even young Black males, wish to be perceived as dumb. “Smart’N Up!” is not just a program; it is a command. Through interactive, high-energy workshops we address issues like Education, Entrepreneurship, Mass Incarceration, Fatherlessness, Handling Yourself during encounters with law enforcement, Health and other critical issues. We address those issues in a way TAILOR MADE to penetrate the soul and awaken the consciousness of our youth.

Statistics show that on any given day, nearly 60,000 youth under the age of 18 are incarcerated in juvenile jails and prisons in the United States. Additionally, 2.08 million 12- to 17-year-olds nationwide report using drugs in the last month, with 83.88% reporting marijuana use. By inspiring, instructing and redirecting these young people, we hope to help them avoid these outcomes.

ALL youth, regardless of their gender, race, ethnicity, or background, are welcome! We recognize that the youth who attend the summit face similar challenges and issues, regardless of their ethnicity or gender, such as poverty, discrimination, violence, lack of opportunities and resources, low self-esteem, and peer pressure. We aim to provide them with a safe and supportive space where they can share their stories, learn from each other, and find solutions to overcome their obstacles.
